What is a full-body MRI scan?
A whole-body MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a type of scan that uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body. An MRI scanner is a large tube that contains powerful magnets. A complete body MRI scan can detect cancer lesions, aneurysms (blood vessel blockages), bone and joint issues, and spine problems inside the body.
Why would I want to invest in a diagnostic full body MRI scan?
Early detection of problems within the body can be lifesaving. Patients with a family history of stroke, cancer, or other diseases within the body, may benefit by detecting these issues in their early stages by having a complete body medical scan. MRI’s can assess overall health and detect potential issues before symptoms appear. We also know that the earlier you detect a problem and treat it, the better the outcome.
I had a whole-body diagnostic testing, now what?
Generally, you can find an MRI center in your local area to conduct a diagnostic full body MRI, and a radiologist associated with the facility will review the films and point out potential medical issues that may need to be addressed. Keep in mind that one set of eyes on your diagnostic test may not be enough. That is why BICMD offers second opinion readings of your MRI imaging done by the best of the best, top 1% radiologists in the country.
Why do I need a second opinion of my medical imaging diagnostics?
A recent peer-reviewed study by The American Journal of Roentgenology found that 68.9% of the full body MRIs reviewed by a general radiologist had at least one discrepancy. This suggests a significant potential for error for patient who have invested in a complete medical imaging diagnostic test. At BICMD we can verify the results by offering:
